Why would anyone purchase a Blu-ray imported (Japanese, Germany) movie?

The opening credits and subtitles, if the movie is not dubbed, will just be a major distraction, no?

1. I would be more inclined to buy a Japanese movie with subtitles if the movie was really good. I like Japanese horror movies, so I would probably buy a few in Blu-Ray format.
