How can i get my DVD-Player to show subtitles again ?

So here's the problem : Some 20 minutes ago I came home with a copy of Pirates Of The Carribean and i played it the dvd ( which is Samsung ). After a few minutes, the subtitle part just somehow jammed and since then my dvd won't show ANY subtitles from ANY Dvd i would insert in it. Furthermore, it refuses to show me the underliner thingie that lets you know which option you are about to acces. So please help me. I would really appreciate if you would give me a practical solution rather than advice me to go to the service to get it repaired. Thank you a lot ! even if i hit the subtitle button, it won't show them. but what about the "choose" thing from the disc menu ? that isn't shown to me either. I can't afford to buy a new dvd so please help me solve the problem without having to buy or get the dvd player to repair. again, thank you and somehow, it seems that the tdk disk on which the copy of Pirates is, blocked somehow the dvd's reading subtitles and disc menu chooser from other discs too. I have another dvd (not tdk, but pleomax ) and before the all jamming thing come across, the dvd was well reading both kinds of discs. so what to do ?

1. on most dvd players you should go to the main menu and go to extra features or possibly it will say subtitles. so go there and just go with the flow
2. Usually their is a subtitle button on your remote control, you may have it jammed or you may of hit it by accident. try that to see if it works...
3. Copied DVD's will ruin Samsung DVD players. Samsung aren't the best DVD players. My best advice would go out and buy a Bush Dvd Player. I have one and they work perfectly on all DVD discs.
