Would putting spanish subtitles while I watch English movies help improve my Spanish?

- Probably. I would try it, just to see if it works for you. Actually, what I might try as well, is to see if I could put the actual video where Spanish is dubbed in. Not all dvds have that feature, but a lot do. :)
- Well it won't hurt but it would be better if you heard it in Spanish with English subtitles. That will give you a much better idea of the accent and rhythm of the spoken word. It will teach you to speak and understand it better when people actually use it. And that's what it's really all about!
- It might help your written Spanish. For spoken Spanish, a Spanish film with English subtitles would be better. The best way of all, however, would to watch Spanish movies with no subtitles at all. At first I guarantee you won't understand a word, but watch a movie a day for a month - even maybe the same one - and you'll be amazed at how soon you will find yourself understanding quite a lot of the dialogue.
- yeah sure it works for me..I even sometimes add English subtitles to English movies just to see the words written..it helps a lot if you have visual memory..to hear the language and see the written form of it!
- This partly depends on the type of movie. Comedies often don't translate well, so often whole sections of dialog are often rewritten to make more sense. And slang terms won't match up.
