Which is better for learning Spanish - watching TV in Spanish with English subtitles or the other way around?

My vocabulary is not very strong, so it is hard to watch TV in Spanish without reading English subtitles to understand. They speak very fast though, so it is hard to link English words to what is spoken in Spanish. I understand more when I watch in English and connect the Spanish words in subtitles. The problem there is that I don't hear the correct pronunciation. Any thoughts?

  1. It's better to watch TV in Spanish and reading English subtitles. Even if you can't link what is said with what you read fast, you'll learn a better Spanish. The Spanish translations in subtitles are no good!!!
  2. i will recommend, doing both. watch English movies with the subtitles and watch Spanish ones with English subtitles. if you possibly can, try to find Spanish subtitles ( that is captions) for Spanish tv. thats the best! also listen to your local spanish langauge radio station constantly. esp when they have live people talking.
  3. I think the better way to learn spanish is to be with someone who knows how to speak it. good luck!
