How can I load an SSA file when I am play a WMV file?

The SSA file I have has delay so I when to fix it with Subtitle Workshop.I first load the original then change the delay and when to save as an SSA file Then went I open the WMV file there was no subtitle before I changed it ,it load automatically. What am I doing wrong? Is there a better program?

1. According to filext.com there are three different files that use the SSA extension. You might be able to use the free scan to see if your SSA file was corrupted. http://filext.com/file-extension/ssa Without knowing the exact steps you took to change the delay it's hard to offer advice.
