How do I get rid of the extra subtitles at the bottom?

I downloaded american gangster. I have the sub file and vid. both same name. I downloaded VobSub. I open A.G vid and i see the normal subs but bottom of the video or picture, theres times new roman text same subs but extra..? how do i get rid of it?

1. look on the remote for the subtiles botton and press it until they go away or go to main menu and do settings fix it there
2. Those extra subs are probably hard coded into the video. I watch videos on VLC, which has a way to reposition the subtitles (the ones from the file) to keep it from overlapping those extra subs. You can also toggle your subtitles file on and off (for when the others pop up). VLC is the best video player anyway (it has every codec), so give it a try: http://videolan.com
