Get Subtitles

how to open subtitles that are .rar file type?

i downloaded a movie and the subtitles came as .rar and .sfv i used 7zip like i usually do to unpack my subtitles, but when i did "Extract Here", it basically just copied and pasted both files. so now i have 2 .rar, and 2 .sfv files of the same thing i started with, also there's an .idx file type in the folder now? how do i get the subtitles to work for me??? i use VLC Media Player
