how do you get spanish subtitles on your TV?

Ok quick question I was just wondering how do you get spanish subtitles while watching english or spanish shows. Is it done through the TV or remote and how is it done? Thanks for your time.

1. it depends what kind of control you have, but it's usually in MENU
