What is the logic behind the subtitles in movies shown in English language movie channels in India?

It simply catches all the attention while watching movies. Even when the movie is in English, why they are having subtitles in English? It would have understandable if they have Hindi subtitles.

1. Most of the Indian viewers cannot understand American/british accent. Subtitles helps a lot for easy viewing.
2. Well we do understand the accent. Its so the deaf can enjoy the movie too. :)
3. i have another simple reason..lots of indian viewers are watching eng movies just to improve their eng command..they can read but they cant understand very fastly spoken eng..so without subtitles it is not easy to improve..channels know this funda and so they provide eng subtitles
4. Yes it is true that it diverts attention while watching movies...but the logic behind english subtitle is basically they are for the Hearing Impaired. Next time try to focus on the movie & not the subtitles (I am trying hard to practice!!!)
5. It helps people to read, like the deaf who cannot hear!!!
