Get Subtitles

how do I open an .SRT file in windows media player?

I downloaded agerman language avi file that comes with an additional .srt subtitle file,I cannot get the subtitles to work when I open the movie in windows media player or in divx player.can anybody tell me how to do this and make it work please?

1. Download VLC Media Player at http://www.videolan.org Once it is installed go to Media > Advanced Open File. Choose the file you'd like to open and the appropriate subtitle track.
2. You just need a right software to put the srt into avi to get one avi movie, then you can open the avi movie in Windows Media Player or in Divx Player.
