In chinese movies DVDs in China, do they have a universal chinese subtitle?

In chinese movie DVDs in China, do they have a universal chinese subtitle or an option for southern and northern chinese subtitles? I understand that the dialects in Northern and Southern china are very different from each other.

1. If you buy a movie in China, chances are it's going to split up subtitles into Mandarin, Cantonese, Taiwanese-Mandarin, and a few others. If you buy a movie in America with Chinese options, chances are it'll be Mandarin solely.
2. It doesn't matter which dialect one speaks, the written form in mainland China is the same for all. It doesn't matter how you pronounce the word for 'fish' - the character is always the same - 鱼 So, most television programs are in Mandarin, but subtitled in order that non-Mandarin speakers can understand irrespective of which dialect they speak.
3. The Chinese write all the characters the same way, same meaning just different pronounciation.
4. depends on where you buy them... or rather where they were produced... in the Mainland they are Simplified... in the southern areas near HK and in Taiwan they are Traditional...
