Get Subtitles

can i view subtitles with a movie in vlc media player?

I had a movie and wanted subtitles for it so i downloaded them from the internet and they're in .rar format and i want to view them WITH the movie in VLC media player and/or windows media player?

1. I don't think VLC has a subtitle option. The DVD you are viewing should have a option in the menu section to turn on Sub-Titles.
