What program can I use to open an srt file?

Some times I'll download a movie with subtitles. The sub titles appear as an srt file in the movie folder. Sometimes the sub titles won't play. Or there will be more then one language to choose from. How do I get the movie to play the correct language for me?

1. Looks like there are several programs that can open an srt file.
2. To open the SRT file you can easily right click the file and click open with notepad or you can use aegisub. you can also use other similar programs to aegisub with a quick google search. To play sub with your video just name them both the same. Example: Video File- xyz movie srt file- xyz movie and just open up the video and the subs will play right along with it also make sure that the video and srt file are in the same place!!^_^ you can also use a program called media player classic or anything else similar to load any srt file in it and remember if the video doesn't play and that you can only hear the video then your missing a codec Hope this help
