how can I download english subtitles for a show in japanese or for a DivX movie?

I often watch fansub anime from online on my computer and I recently found one that is not subtitled at all. I'm curious if I can find and download a subtitle track/file and continue to watch. Also, I have many downloaded movies and they are often very quiet. I woould like to download subtitles for those as well
