How to open SRT file?

i don't know how is it called. it has .SRT at the end. it's movie's subtitles in it but is doesn't open. what program should i use to open it?

1. There is no special software to open an SRT file. They are Text file containing subtitles used by various video playback programs; supported by DivX, DVD, and other video formats; includes the time each subtitle should be displayed followed by the text of the subtitle. Normally it should open when you play the movie. If the subtitles are not getting displayed try these. 1. Make sure the movie file and subtitles are in the same folder. 2. Drag and drop the SRT file in the movie window [ the player window where the movie is playing. ] 3. Try using VLC Palyer, which is a better video player and open almost all sort of video files.
