Get Subtitles

What Mac software is used to load subtitles into an .AVI movie and burn it?

I use VLC and it loads the subtitles and I can see the movie with the subtitles, but I can't save it or burn it. I was wondering what program is used to load the subtitles in the movie and save it or burn it. I'm using a MAC.
