How do you incorporate subtitles to downloaded movies?

I downloaded subtitles separately and copy-pasted it in the movie file. It didn't work. Help please!

1. If you have a movie that you want to watch on the computer, usually you just need to put it in a folder and name the movie and the subtitle exactly the same. Do you have a problem with all your downloaded movies or it is just with this one? If it is just with this one. Do you have a good Codec Pack installed? e-mail me for more information.
