Chinese Subtitles? Hi, I am currently using Windows XP. I am trying to get a chinese sub.srt file to work with the movie. However, when I play the movie the the subtitle display some weird symbols that is definitely not chinese. what can i do? my goal here is to permanently attach the sub onto the movie and then upload it onto my Cowon D2.

Why do Chinese movies, even if the language is chinese, still include a chinese subtitle? I mean I saw a lot of Chinese movies and even if the language spoken is chinese, they still include chinese subtitles below. I can grasp a little chinese and based on what I can see, what is spoken is very similar to what is written. Why do they have to do it? In English movies, subtitles are written only if the language spoken is not English when the supposed target audience are people who understands English.

Question regarding subtitles in Chinese bootleg copies of anime series...? I never buy these sets- partly for moral-highground-related reasons, but largely due to problems with audio/video quality and - most importantly - all the stories of dreadful subtitle translations. So- this is more out of curiosity than anything else. I wanted to ask about these awful subtitles. I've heard people saying that many of these Chinese bootlegs have subtitles which read like someone rammed the script through Babelfish of Google translator and that it is pretty ridiculous. Now- this makes me curious... Why on earth do these Chinese bootleggers not use the subtitles that are used in official international releases? Why do they use terrible Babelfish-esque translations when there are professional quality ones readily available on the market?

how can I display chinese characters correctly? Hi I downloaded a .srt file, which contains Harry Potter and the order of the phoenix Chinese subtitle. However, they turn up to be the usual mumble jumble $@@#!@@$!!%$^ instead of Chinese characters.
